How to crochet the solid granny square
The solid granny square is so simple to work up and if you don’t know how to crochet one, I have made a video to show you how. You can make some using up some leftover yarn, and turn it into a blanket when you are done.
I want to work up all those scraps so I thought why not make some whenever I have leftovers, and turn it unto a blanket or a pillow once I have enough.
I add more to my pile of granny’s when I don’t feel like work on something that requires thinking.
Also, this is something that you can use as a project to go when you are traveling somewhere. We are all very busy and sometimes it’s hard to find time to crochet. So whenever we are driving somewhere and my husband is behind the wheel, I always crochet!
Or when taking the bus, or just simply going to the park and crochet while my son plays. I love crocheting in public! It’s such a great conversation starter. Sometimes people come up to me and ask me what I am making, and maybe we chat a bit about yarn and crocheting.
Also this is a very beginner friendly pattern! You can use any yarn for the solid granny square, but make sure that the yarn matches your hook and you are all set!
Oh, and if you are looking for more simple crochet projects and ideas, check out the coasters that I made from t-shirt yarn!

Make a magic ring. Watch the video below if you don’t know how to make a magic ring.
Round 1: Ch 3 (count as 1 dc through the entire pattern), 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2. Sl st in the top of ch 3. Pull the ring tight.
Round 2: Ch 3, 1 dc in the next 2 dc. Now work in the chain 2 sp: 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc (first corner), *1 dc in next 3 dc. In ch sp: 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc ( second corner)*. Repeat two more times. Sl st in top of chain 3 from round 1.
Round 3: Ch 3, 1 dc in the next 4 dc. In ch 2 sp: 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc. *1 dc in next 7 dc. In ch. sp: 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc (corner)*. Repeat two more times. Sl st in top of chain 3 from round 2.
I think you see where this is going from here. Just keep on repeating this and simply crochet 1 dc in each dc from previous round. To make a boarder you can just make single crochet instead of double crochet.
