I've been crocheting so many of these spiral coasters, or swirls, as some call them, over the last weeks! You have officially been warned—this is addictive!
You can use all kinds of colors for this pattern. I opted for white, grey, and red.

Here's a simple pattern to create your vibrant spiral coasters.
Crochet Spiral Coaster Pattern
Materials Needed:
- Two contrasting colors of worsted-weight cotton yarn
- 4.5 mm (G) crochet hook
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Scissors
- Color A = white, Color B = red
Abbreviations:
- ch: chain
- sc: single crochet
- hdc: half double crochet
- dc: double crochet
- sl st: slip stitch
- inc: increase (two stitches in the same stitch)
Pattern:
- Starting the Spiral:
- Begin with Color A.
- In a magic ring, ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), work 1 sc, 1 hdc, and 4 dc.
- Pull up a loop and remove your hook, leaving the loop open.
- Join Color B in the magic ring.
- Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch), work 1 sc, 1 hdc, and 4 dc.
- Tighten the magic ring by pulling on the yarn tail.
- Round 2:
- With Color A, work 2 dc in each stitch around until you reach Color B stitches.
- Switch to Color B, work 2 dc in each stitch around until you reach Color A stitches.
- Round 3:
- With Color A, 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch; repeat around until you reach Color B stitches.
- Switch to Color B, 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in the next stitch; repeat around until you reach Color A stitches.
- Round 4:
- With Color A, 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in each of the next 2 stitches; repeat around until you reach Color B stitches.
- Switch to Color B, 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in each of the next 2 stitches; repeat around until you reach Color A stitches.
- Round 5:
- With Color A, 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in each of the next 3 stitches; repeat around until you reach Color B stitches.
- Switch to Color B, 2 dc in the first stitch, 1 dc in each of the next 3 stitches; repeat around until you reach Color A stitches.
- Finishing the Coaster:
- With Color A, work 1 dc in each of the next 2 stitches, 1 hdc in the next 2 stitches, 1 sc in the 2 next stitches , and sl st in the last 2 stitches. Fasten off and weave in ends.
- Repeat the same finishing steps with Color B.
Fasten off and weave in all ends.
