The summer is getting closer so I thought it would be nice to make some cute and colourful crochet coasters! I am so in love with the look from these crochet coasters and they are also very easy and quick to make, I think I needed about 10 minutes for one coaster. There are many fun things you can do with t-shirt yarn and you don’t need to throw your old t-shirts way, you can turn them into yarn!
You can create all kinds of projects using this technique, and I can think of bags, purses, rugs, pot holders, just to mention a few. Today I am going to show you the method I used to create these simple and pretty coasters and then you can just use the method to create other fun projects. I love t-shirt yarn! If you feel particular crafty you can even make your own t-shirt yarn, or do like me, buy some! These crochet coasters are so simple and fun to make and will spice up your dinner table for sure. I found this gorgeous yarn from ONline Cotton Smooth and the colors are just breathtaking and gives the coasters such an summery look.
I am still practising making YouTube videos and after the third attempt I managed to get everything sharp;) I also added many photos if you prefer them.
I mean look at those colors! The yarn is from ONline and it is an Italian yarn brand. Those Italians sure know how to make gorgeous yarn! I have more projects on mind where I want to use this yarn so don’t forget to sign up for our Newsletter so you don’t miss out of all the fun:)

Crochet coasters
Supplies
-
- T-Shirt yarn
- Crochet hook size 3,5 mm/E
- ONline Wolle Cotton Smooth color 101
- Sissors
- Tapestry needle
Make a simple knot like on the picture below and form it into a circe. Now this is important, lie your knot facing the right side. Attach the yarn to your hook.
Start crocheting in the ring. Crochet around both strands in the first round only.
Make as many single crochet as you need to complete the round. When you get to the knot just add a couple of sc there too. Pull and adjust the strands of the ring to make sure everything looks nice and neat.
Join the ring with a single crochet in the first stitch. Remember to do your increases in every third or fourth stitch or as often that you need to keep your coaster flat.
When you are happy with the size just slip stitch in a sc from the previous round and fasten ends. Weave in the ends from the t-shirt yarn with a big tapestry needle.
And there you have it! Wasn’t this easy? For more explanations watch the video above.
