Today we are going to show you how to crochet the grit stitch. The grit stitch is a very beginner-friendly stitch that you can use in many projects! Garments, pillowcases, washcloths, and blankets are a few that I can think of.

This is a very easy stitch to learn and a one-row repeat. To make a different look, change the color of the yarn. I made one example with multi-colored yarn, and one with a one-color yarn. It is fun to see the difference!

How to crochet the grit stitch
Abbreviations
Ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc. double crochet
Pattern
FOUNDATION:
Chain a multiple of 2 + 1, plus 2 for the foundation ch.
R1: Skip first 2 ch (counts as a single crochet), dc in next ch, *skip next ch, work 1 sc and 1 dc in the next st*, repeat from *-* across to last 2 ch. Skip the next ch, sc in the last ch, turn.
R2: ch 1 (counts as a single crochet), 1 dc in 1st st, *skip next dc, work 1 sc and 1 dc in the next sc*, repeat from *-* across to last 2 st, skip next dc, sc in turning ch, turn.
Repeat row 2 until you are happy with the size.
