Hello fellow crocheters! Today I have a warm and chunky treat for you, a free pattern for this colourful cowl!
This is a fun and quick little project for those cold, dark fall evenings that awaits us. We all want to stay warm as it gets colder, and why not looking fabulous while doing so? I love creating my own accessories, only then I can be sure that the quality of the fabric meet my standards, and I also have so much fun creating it!
I stitched up this cowl with yarn from Lana Grossa, it`s a mix of virgin wool and acrylic. The yarn is called olympia and has a funny texture. It`s so simple to make and I crocheted up mine in one evening watching Netflix! This will definitely be my favourite item this fall.
I made this one with a stitch called the Herringbone Double Crochet. I just made a loop with 50 chains and crocheted one stitch of the Herringbone Double Crochet in each stitch around. When you crochet the Herringbone Double crochet in rounds, it looks different on each side, so kinda get two cowls in one!
The pattern is written in US-therms
Abbreviations used:

Pattern
Round 1) Make 50 chains, sl st in the first chain to make a circle. Be sure not to twist the chain. Chain 3 ( count as 1 hbdc), 1 hbdc in each stitch around for the complete round. End with a sl st on the top of the chain 3. Scroll for detailed pictures.
Round 2) Chain 3, 1 hbdc in the next stitch and in each stitch around for the complete round. End the round with a sl st in on the top of the chain 3.
Repeat round 2 until you have reached your desired length.
The Herringbone Double Crochet Stitch.
Make a chain, us as many stitches you like. The cowl I made has 50 stitches. Join the chain with a slipstitch to form a sirkle and make a chain of 3.
Yarn over and insert the hook in the next stitch.
Now bring the first loop on your hook (nearest my tum) trough the second loop.
Now you have two loops on the hook.
Now yarn over again and pull through the next loop.
Finally yarn over and pull trough the last two loops
And there you go! I always keep track by counting. You have to yarn over and pull trough tre times in total.
When you get to the end, just do a slipstitch in the top of the chain 3. Continue the next round with a chain 3 and do a hbdc in each stitch around for the entire round. Repeat this until you have reach the desired height.
