Last year I made a crochet ragdoll jellyfish pattern. It became very popular and is one of the most viewed patterns on the blog! So, this is why I’ve decided to make a full YouTube video showing how to make these jellies!

You can use all kinds of yarn for this project. I used sports weight and the full length of my jellyfish is 18 cm/7.08. (Tentacels included).

Even though it’s much work to make a video for the patterns compared to writing it down, I really enjoy it! I want to make more tutorials in the future, so please support me by subscribing to my YouTube channel

YouTube

When I learned to crochet, I couldn’t read patterns. So all the stuff that I’ve learned, I learned from amazing YouTube creators. This is why it feels so important for me to share some of my patterns on YouTube too.

I also plan to make tutorials for Sverre the lamb and Lisa the mouse. If that goes well, there might be a Malvin video too!

In addition to English, the pattern is also written in Norwegian and German. The video however, is only in English.

If you are looking for the print-friendly version you can find it here.

Yarn

You can use all kinds of yarn weights for this project. For the crochet jellyfish on the video, I used sport weight and a 3 mm crochet hook. But I’ve also used Aran and a 5 mm and they turned out great too! They were just a little bigger in the end.

What can I use it for?

You can turn your jellyfish into a keychain! I would advise you to use an even smaller hook and maybe thinner yarn. One lady made several in different colors and they turned out so cute!

Another great idea from my husband is to make several in different colors and use it as a mobile! That would be so cute!

The jellyfish can also be used as a cat toy. Just fill a fitting cotton bag with catnip, put it inside the jellyfish and see if your furry friend likes it. However, if you want to make a crochet jellyfish for your cat, only use natural fibers like cotton or wool! Make sure that everything is very secure and the libs are good attached. The reason why you should use natural fibers is if your cat swallows yarn, it can’t digest acrylics! This can be very dangerous for your cat since the yarn can hurt the organs. If they swallow a natural fiber it will dissolve. My sister-in-law is a vet, she told me that.

Disclaimer: All the ideas for usage are of course just suggestions and any risk associated with these jellyfish are solely on your side. Always make sure to use them safely!

Please remember to share this tutorial with your friends!
