Hello folks! So many of you loved the crochet hedgehog, Hedda! This pattern has gotten so popular and therefore I wanted to make a new version and add some fun details. The video tutorial is available in German and English!
The new hedgehog version also has a bow, ears, and feet. I love how this one turned out and I will definitely make a few hedgehogs with some neutral colors as well.
How to crochet the hedgehog
This pattern is a video tutorial, but you don’t have to follow the tutorial from A to Z.
The base pattern is the same as the original, so if you don’t want to follow the video pattern, just go to the original post and follow the instructions there.
When you get to the body part, just make single crochet instead of the loop stitches. Then, go back to the video and watch how I make the loops. There is a timeline in the descriptions, you can just skip to that part so you don’t have to watch the whole video.

Size and materials
I used a DK weight for the crochet hedgehog. The bigger one is about 19 cm and the smaller 10 cm. You can use any type of yarn for this pattern and achieve different sizes. The small, brown one in the video is made with sports weight yarn.
I used safety eyes and a 3.5 mm crochet hook. But you don’t have to use the same size as I do. Pic one hook according to what the yarn label says and how big you want your hedgehog to be.
I used two different colors, beige for the head, ears, and limbs, and a different color for the body. You will need 60-70 g of the color for the body. Those chains require some yarn!
You can use more the same color if your decor to make the hedgehog match your home. Kint pics have many nice colors so you can check that out!
I had so much fun making these! Once you get a hang on how to do the chains, these are so easy and fun to make!
